When Katniss was younger, her father died in a coal mining accident leaving it up to her to provide for her mother and sister. To provide for her family she hunts in the woods of her district with her friend Gale. This is just the start of the masculine features Katniss has, and just like the video says, this is where she gets denied her heroism.
She is empathetic towards things she loves, but she doesn’t have the same things normal female protagonists do. She has a love triangle between her, Peeta, and Gale, but she doesn’t really pursue either of them. That alone shows how naive she is. She is a very strong character both physically and mentally and that is one reason she is so successful within the games.
After Katniss won the games and she was successful in her rebellion, she decided to pursue her relationship with Peeta. Today, there are more authors following in Suzanne Collins footsteps with the female protagonist being the way Katniss was.
